The not-so diet helping diet soda

dietcola.jpgResearch in lab animals has shown that the consumption of soft drinks or other beverage that is sweetened using aspartame or other types of artificial sweeteners has no real health benefits and can cause more harm than good for they have been found to increase the intake and absorption of calories rather than aid in lowering it. This is a surprising result that shows the substitution of sugar with artificial sweeteners has little or no effect and that it can even lead to obesity. The problem arises when the body absorbs the artificial sweetener which it cannot fully interpret (it tastes sweet yet it does not have the components of naturally occurring sugars) so the body becomes confused leading to one eating more than the recommended dietary allowance.
